About
Figure Drawing and the Self Portrait
My drawings reflect the beauty and fragility I see in the line of the human figure and the world it lives in. Flower patterns are a reappearing theme in my work, I find a relation in my anxious contour line that builds the body of both the figure and flower. The balance of line work, contour, and color is built and processed in my portraits as I work, creating a harmony in the page I work on.
Regarding the work of the self portrait, there is an ease to always having yourself available as a model. You can pose whichever way you'd like and in contemporary life, the selfie allows everyone to be a self-portrait artist. The attention and care given to the drawing replaces the idea of the selfie being a disposable image; giving weight to something without significance.
